My daily practice as an artist is to slow down and pay attention. With each design decision, my goal is to freely explore what is happening within the composition rather than impose a predetermined idea on the work. I continue experimenting until the piece is complete.

Elizabeth Brandt (b. 1962 Cincinnati, Ohio) creates improvisational sewn abstractions and paper collages. After earning a BFA in Graphic Communications from the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, she worked as an art director and illustrator for clients including the Wall Street Journal, Children's Television Workshop and National Public Radio. In 2010 she began working full-time as a studio artist and has exhibited in South Korea, Germany, Portugal, Canada and the United States.
